The staff were very friendly and helpful and the level of English was very high. A really good location.
It is an old ship and very nice surroundings
Unusual hotel well situated for attending matches during the Gothia Cup.
Too cold to eat lunch on deck on a wet, cloudy afternoon.
Such a great change to stay on board a restored ship that really sailed. Certainly different than staying at another conventional hotel. From the Hotel Barken Viking it's easy to walk to shopping centres, the main attractions of the city and the train station. The staff were very accommodating for our various requests. A good and different way to stay at Gothenburg.
The only issue was a minor one in that the room ventilation was limited to a small inlet air vent - it would have been great to open one of the room's porthole windows, but none could be opened (they are fastened shut).
Perfect location, close to city centre and transport links. Fantastic breakfast!
I loved the fact that I was staying on a ship with a history, and as my last night as a US citizen in Sweden, it was an extra treat. It was definitely not the typical hotel environment. Both my traveling companion and I completely enjoyed staying on the Barken Viking.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel was novel and clean. The breakfasts were good.
The rooms were very small with little storage space which made me feel that you were getting less than you paid for but that may be a trade off for the unusual location of the hotel.
Excellent location. Sitting on the deck with a drink in the late evening sunshine was a delight.
The uniqueness of it. Sloping floor in the room/boat. Food for breakfast was fine. The parking wasn't free, but not bad at the nearby shopping mall.
A fun place to be for a night, we walked from the Train Station, had a lovely supper and breakfast . Easy to walk into the city.
The hotel is unusual and in an attractive location in the harbour. It's very convenient for the Opera House and for ferry trips and sailing excursions, and it's only a relatively short walk to shops, museums and other places of interest.
The rooms are rather small with very little storage space, so best to travel light.
Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. I was only staying for one night so I did not really get a chance to experience the menu. It seemed close to the shops and I think great for tourists and city hoppers. I liked the wifi access.
I had to wait for my room to be ready and as I was on business, I had plans to get some work done. I was thus not aware that I could have used the wifi in the lobby to work while waiting for my room to be ready. It would have been good to have a few more sockets in the room to be able to work with my laptop and charge my phone at the same time. I would say that the hotel seemed to cater more for tourists than business.Staff were very responsive and friendly.
Very nice rooms. Good wifi.
No early checkin (had to check in at 3pm).
The small sitting room / study and the breakfast
Close to the city centre. Special admosphere on the boot
